Using the phrase 'back in your day' to an older work colleague could count as age harassment, employment judge rules

Ruling came in the case of nursing assistant Margaret Couperthwaite
Sued Hilton Nursing Partners in Ashford, Kent, where she had worked from 2018

Using the phrase 'back in your day' to an older colleague at work could count as age harassment
, an employment judge has ruled.

The ruling came in the case of nursing assistant Margaret Couperthwaite - who is in her 60s - after she sued for age harassment, alleging a younger colleague suggested an operation had been free on the NHS 'back in your day'.

Although her claim was dismissed, as the tribunal found the comment was never made, it was concluded that the 'barbed and unwelcome' expression highlighted the age gap between two people and may amount to 'unwanted conduct'.

This means that elderly workers could now successfully sue as the comment is 'related to age' with the hearing in Watford saying they would be 'likely to accept' the argument in future cases.

Thousands of illegal migrants are skipping their bail checks to avoid the threat of deportation, figures show

It's quite straightforward to fix it. The problem is caused deliberately by this government.

Currently:
1. The migrants coming via small boats are processed before being granted permission to remain or being deported.

Sensible system:
1. Opening legal routes would get rid of the traffiker gangs in an instant
2. The migrants coming via the re-established legal routes would be processed before being granted permission to remain or being deported. (same as is currently done)
3. A points-based system that was alluded to by a former Government should be established just as it is in Australia.
4. If we don't need plumbers, there won't be any granted citizenship/green card and that can be determined before they get here through the use of application forms.
5. If we do need nurses or doctors or other groups of employees, they may be granted citizenship/green card, if they are in the categories of employee needed.

Simple - and this government knows that and it is using the whole issue of migration to divide the population and inflame tensions and to polarise the population.

Rwanda Act is FINALLY on the statute book: Lords are told King Charles has given Royal Assent to crucial legislation - as ministers say deportation flights to African state will go on until migrants stop crossing the Channel

The Lord Speaker told the Upper House that King Charles has granted Royal Assent for the measures, meaning they have formally joined the statute book.

PRE-erection condoms that men stick on up to 2 HOURS before having sex

The 'Smart Pre-erection Condom' is made of an ultra-thin synthetic resin AT-10

Men are buying condoms to put on before they get erect — and they supposedly make sex more enjoyable.

Firms are offering packs of three 'pre-erection' contraceptives for as little as £5.

Men can put the condoms on up to two hours before having sex, to 'prevent from distractions' and help 'forget about last-minute worries'.

One Colombian-based company making them even brags they make 'lovemaking so much easier (and more fun) because you don't have to interrupt your intimacy with the mundane task of putting it on — because you already wear it.'
The condom is placed over a flaccid penis that is stretched, covering it like a sock. A ring at the bottom helps it stay in place before a man gets erect. Once aroused, the condom expands with the penis, to a maximum length of 18cm (seven inches), a similar size as traditional ones sold by the likes of Durex

The condom is placed over a flaccid penis that is stretched, covering it like a sock.

A ring at the bottom helps it stay in place before a man gets erect.

Once aroused, the condom expands with the penis, to a maximum length of 18cm (seven inches), a similar size as traditional ones sold by the likes of Durex.

They can be made from a material 10 times thinner than latex, which manufacturers insist is resistant against pressure, stretching and rubbing. They also say it is more 'comfortable' and feels 'like a second skin when the material is warm'.

This, in theory, makes it easier to transfer body heat and become aroused, according the Kamyra Condoms, which sells them.

Research, however, has previously found thickened condoms instead can 'physically preserve and extend the time' of an erection.

But men who have bought condoms made by Kamyra say they now 'can't imagine sex without them'.

Meanwhile, one online review of UNIQ's smart condom said: 'I would say that with this condom the sex was even better than without it.'

One man, however, compared the 'wafer-thin' material to cling film. Another wrote on a Dutch website that it took 'time to learn how to put it on comfortably'.

Others also complained it was 'difficult to put on' and even 'kept falling off' or tore.

Jumbo-packs of 72 are available on Amazon for around £86.

For comparison, a branded box of a dozen condoms in the UK costs in the region of £10 — meaning they are similarly priced.

The firms do not make claims about the contraceptive's effectiveness or why a two hour limit is imposed. Men can not urinate while wearing them, unless they take them off.

Regular condoms, the NHS says, are 98 per cent with perfect use.

As well as ease, the companies claim they can overcome condom-related erectile dysfunction.

Scores of men complain that is a major reason why they don't want to wear them, despite them being proven to protect against STIs like chlamydia and gonorrhea.

One Colombian university study suggested the product 'did not interfere with male arousal response'.

The trial, published in the International Journal of Clinical and Health Psychology, tracked 82 men aged 18 to 30.

It's a comforting favourite, but can an egg and cress sandwich ever be worth £6?

The humble egg sandwich has been a lunchtime staple for more than a century and, according to a survey this week by Hovis, almost a fifth of Brits say it's their favourite sandwich.
It's amassing a younger fanbase, too: statistics show that social media mentions of 'egg sandwich' have increased by 49 per cent in the past year, and on TikTok - the platform of choice for trendy foodies - recipe videos for egg sandwiches total 169 million.
Now M&S is jumping on the bandwagon, with a 'Posh Egg Mayo and Watercress' which they launched for an eye-watering £6.

Deep-filled with creamy egg mayonnaise, enriched with salad cream and fresh chives, with an extra layer of sliced free-range egg, baby watercress and rocket leaves, it's sandwiched together with thick slices of wholegrain bread (nine grains, to be precise).

The price alone caused such a furore this week - with shoppers wondering how M&S can justify charging so much and what makes it different to its bog-standard 'Egg and Watercress' sandwich, which costs just £2.50.

The Hope Hostel is one of several properties selected by the Rwandan government to house illegal immigrants who will be flown from the UK in July after PM Rishi Sunak vowed 'nothing will stand in our way'.
But with dozens human rights lawyers waiting in the wings to fight claims and a Labour government odd on to take power - and who have already vowed to scrap the scheme - taxpayers will be furious at what looks increasingly like a costly white elephant.
The first British news organisation to visit the Hope Hostel since the Government's Rwanda Bill was passed late on Monday night and was given a guided tour of the premises.
Set in the smart Kagugu district of Kigali, home to numerous expat houses, international schools and a few minutes drive from the plush greens of the city's only golf course.
Hope Hostel was selected as a site to house 100 claimants and the managing director and staff said they had been '100 per cent ready since 2022' and were eager to welcome potential residents.
