I have the perception that girls do it with each other (or to each other) almost as a normal thing. On the other hand, guys don't. (a generalisation, I know).

Yeah, I think you hit the nail on the head here. It is a lot more normal for women. How many times I haven't heard about women kissing each other in the club. Men don't do that. I think they fear about being called gay.

I usually just ask, I have also been asked 'do I want to do it' from another girl.
Then you have the choice to say yes or no.
Girls understand these things, guys might find it offensive and get angry.

I would agree with Sandra's perspectives regarding men ...

For me, those early adolescent years were filled with naivety and exploration ... sometimes aided by older brothers or friends.  Summer camp, communial showers for the first time, etc.  Who is developing faster than their friends.  My limited experience during those years didn't lead to ejaculation, but would still fall under the broad definition of masturbation (it felt good!) and was certainly mutual.

Fast forward to now - mature years.  We've been around the block.  We don't worry about whether it's considered "gay" or not, and would likely be more open to the idea even if it were.  At this point it's more about pleasure, sometimes intimacy, and filling a need in our lives that may be lacking from other sources.
