You make a good point

Masturbation can feel addictive because the act triggers a large surge of dopamine, a brain chemical that drives pleasure and rewards the brain to repeat the behavior.
Major medical groups, such as the American Psychological Association, do not officially classify masturbation as a clinical addiction.
Instead, experts often call it compulsive sexual behavior or an out-of-control habit.

How the Brain ReactsThe Dopamine Surge:
When you masturbate, your brain releases a rush of feel-good chemicals like dopamine.
This reward system teaches your brain that the action brings quick happiness.

Tolerance and Desensitization:
Doing this too often can make your brain less sensitive to dopamine.
You may need more time or stronger stimulation to feel the same level of relief or pleasure.

The Craving Cycle:
When dopamine levels drop back down after the act, your brain feels a temporary deficit.
This drop triggers sudden urges and cravings to do it again just to feel normal.

Emotional and Psychological Triggers Stress and Mood Regulation:

Many people use masturbation to cope with difficult feelings like stress, anxiety, sadness, or boredom.

The Habit Loop:

If your brain learns to rely on self-pleasure to escape bad moods, it creates a strong emotional loop.
Every time you feel overwhelmed, your mind automatically craves the quick relief the act provides.
If this behavior feels out of control or causes distress in your daily life you have a problem.

Maybe I'm having trouble with the word choice here. Addiction is defined as "...the condition of being unable to stop a habit or substance use. It often relates to harmful behaviors or items, such as a drug, alcohol, or social media."  That notion of inability to stop enjoying porn, seems internally contradictory. First, I love porn, I wasn't dragged to it I ran to it. Second, porn doesn't relate to harmful behavior for me, masturbation and self pleasure are not harmful behaviors, they are healthy. As a corollary point, I work hard to stay productive accomplished individual in all aspects of life assuring that porn and masturbation are a part of that full productive healthy life, just not the only thing that I do in life. Third, I actually don't require porn to pleasure myself, I can easily enjoy masturbation to orgasm just by watching myself masturbate in front of a mirror. So because I have agency, I choose to masturbate and pleasure myself often and I choose to enjoy porn as part of that healthy not harmful practice.
