I don't think any laws in the UK are working that well.

• Parliamentary Inquiry into Ineffectiveness: The House of Lords Communications and Digital Committee launched an official inquiry into the OSA. The committee's chair explicitly stated it is clear "the Act is not working as well as it should" due to concerns that Ofcom is not moving fast enough and that the legislation itself may be flawed.

• The "Censorship" Outcry: Tech companies, terrified of massive penalties, have resorted to overzealous automated filtering. The law's vague parameters have led to widespread censorship of benign content—such as breaking news and innocent GIFs—sparking a public backlash and a petition with over half a million signatures demanding the Act's repeal.

• Mass Evasion via VPNs: Rather than keeping children safer, the implementation of mandatory age checks has driven a massive spike in UK users downloading Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to bypass the restrictions entirely. Digital rights groups like the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) argue this is actively pushing minors into unmonitored, more dangerous corners of the internet.

• Privacy Risks: Privacy advocates warn that the newly built, centralized age-verification databases required by the law are creating highly attractive targets for hackers, heavily increasing the risk of widespread identity theft.

I have only ever done it once because of the UK laws now, but have regretted it
