Im no royalist but I believe the following. He was born into that family, without any choice. It's because of the country's current desire to maintain status quo that there is still a monarchy.

However he has done a lot of good for people much lower down the social strata. Much more than any of us have done, too.

The Institution is a UK asset. It brings in more to the UK than it costs. That's why GB republicans have only protested. If they tried to make an economic case for having a Republic it would fail.  They know that. The leaders, not the public, I mean.

And for me, I would rather that which we know, rather tan risk having a US-style presidency with our own knuckle-headed version of Trump.

BTW. Beans with a little tobasco or Worcestershire (woostershire) sauce is nice on wheaten bread.
