Europe's Arctic storm chaos: Thousands of passengers camp out at frozen Dutch airport while snow-hit France closes motorways and cancels flights.

More than a thousand passengers spent the night at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, the main international airport of the Netherlands, marking the sixth day of disruption in ‍a row ‍at one of Europe's busiest hubs.

The airport set up camp beds after days of cancelling hundreds of flights due to the extreme weather.

More than 700 flights out of 1,100 scheduled were cancelled on Wednesday, and Schiphol expects this number to rise further.

In France, the A8 motorway heading south towards Aix-en-Provence and Marseille was closed this morning, while many flights from Paris' two main airports were cancelled.

Monster winter storm threatens half of US with at least 16 states declaring emergencies

The dangerous monster storm threatening half of the US was on Friday bearing down, with 16 states and Washington DC already declaring emergencies and areas typically unused to prolonged Arctic temperatures bracing for power failures and supply shortages.

At least 230 million people are likely to be affected by the huge winter weather system as it forms in parts of the Rocky Mountains and Great Plains and surges across southern and midwestern areas from Friday, blowing up the east coast on Saturday and as far north as Maine by Sunday

City of Los Angeles Emergency Alert: The National Weather Service has forecast that a major storm will impact the City of Los Angeles beginning Monday, February 16, through at least Friday, February 20.  The worst of the storm is anticipated on Monday, February 16, between the hours of 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. The Los Angeles region is expected to receive 2-4 inches of rain, with 4-8 inches possible in the mountains and foothills. There is a risk of thunderstorms and debris flow across recent burn scars, where evacuation warnings are in place. Get ready for the storm and take extra precautions during the rain. Impacts in the area could include power outages, debris flows, rapidly rising water in streams and rivers, and flooding on roads and freeways.

LA City Emergency Alert: Heat Advisory for the LA Region is expected from Thursday, March 12 at 10 AM until Friday, March 13 at 8 PM. High Temperatures are likely to return next Tuesday, March 17.

During this heat event, it is important to be proactive from heat exposure. As temperatures rise, the City of Los Angeles urges Angelenos to plan and prepare to avoid heat exhaustion in your communities and for yourself.

The public can keep cool by identifying and resting in shade or a building with air conditioning and drinking plenty of water. If you do not live in an air-conditioned building, you may take refuge from the heat at a public library, recreation facility, senior center or other public air-conditioned building near you. You may call 311 to identify cooling facilities closest to you, or visit the Cool Spots LA App. Drink plenty of fluids, stay indoors or in the shade, stay in a cool area, and check up on relatives and neighbors, especially if they have pre-existing health conditions. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Check on neighbors or others who may be sensitive to heat. 

Take extra precautions if you work, exercise, or spend time outside. When possible, please reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. See images below for an explanation of signs and symptoms. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the OSHA recommends frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments and to stay hydrated.  Employers must provide access to sufficient water. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.  If you suspect a heat stroke, this is an emergency! Call 911.  Non-emergency information can be found by calling 311.

A wild week here in Eastern Canada. Tuesday/ Wednesday, sunny and highs around plus 18 C, immediately changed to freezing rain and an ice storm overnight into Thursday. About 200'000 homes in Quebec without power Thursday as the ice knocked down power lines. Settled into around freezing temps Friday and into today with snow. Supposed to go back up to plus 10-15 Monday/ Tuesday but with rain.
I'm thinking Mother Nature is going through menopause and having hot flashes, lol.
